Oceanside is a coastal city on California's South Coast. It is the third-largest city in San Diego County, California. The city had a population of 167,086 at the 2010 census. Together with Carlsbad and Vista, it forms a tri-city area. Oceanside is just south of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

Girls Scouts of USA[]

  • Girl Scouts San Diego - Girl Scouts prepares girls to empower themselves and promotes compassion, courage, confidence, character, leadership, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship through activities involving camping, community service, learning first aid, and earning badges by acquiring practical skills. Girl Scouts' achievements are recognized with various special awards, including the Girl Scout Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards.

Girl Scout membership is organized according to grade, with activities designed for each level. GSUSA is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and accepts girls of all backgrounds.

Home School Clubs[]

Community homeschool clubs are a cooperative of families who homeschool their children. It provides an opportunity for children to learn from other parents who are more specialized in certain areas or subjects. Parents can also share best practices with each other. Co-ops also provide social interaction. They may take lessons together or go on field trips. Some co-ops also offer events such as prom and graduation and shakespeare clubs for homeschoolers.

Charter schools are built on the belief that kids come first. They keep red tape and bureaucracy out of public education and give passionate teachers the freedom to do what they do best: teach. That means that charter schools are launching bright futures and sending more kids to college, especially in communities where high-quality schools are needed most.

  • The Classical Academies have campuses in Escondido and Vista. Their third campus, Coastal Academy, is in Oceanside. The Classical Academies have programs for transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, with choices that combine classroom and home study. They strongly emphasize science and the arts.
  • San Diego Neighborhood Homeschools -Directly supervising your child’s learning can be a positive family experience. Parents who choose homeschooling enjoy spending quality time with their children. San Diego Neighborhood Homeschools offers a free TK-12 Public Charter Homeschool Program in Oceanside and Chula Vista.
  • Pacific View Charter Schools is in Oceanside and they offer homeschool options for kindergarten through 8th grade. The school emphasizes a personalized learning model and creates individual education plans that fit each student. Pacific View has several online classes and a small workshop-based program for students in 9th-12th grade.

Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside California.

  • Mission San Luis Rey - founded by padre Fermín Lasuén on June 12, 1798, the eighteenth of the twenty-one Spanish missions built in the Alta California Province of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. It is a National Historic Landmark, for its pristine example of a Spanish mission church complex. Today the mission complex functions as a parish church of the Diocese of San Diego as well as a museum and retreat center.
  • Prince of Peace Abbey - a Benedictine Monastery situated on a mesa overlooking the San Luis Rey River Valley and the Pacific Ocean. It was founded in 1958 by monks of St. Meinrad’s Archabbey in Indiana. The facility serves as a retreat house and gardens for those seeking spiritual renewal. popular feature open to the public is the Prayer Walk (outdoor stations of the cross). Please remember to keep all conversation to a whisper.
  • Rosicrucian Fellowship - "An International Association of Christian Mystics" was founded in 1909 by Max Heindel with the aim of heralding the Aquarian Age and promulgating "the true Philosophy" of the Rosicrucians. Its headquarters are located on Mount Ecclesia in Oceanside, California, and its students are found throughout the world organized in centers and study groups.

  1. Tour Lake Guajome - Some 4.5 miles of multi-use, non-motorized trails meander through diverse Southern California habitats such as woodlands, chaparral, wetlands and mixed grasslands. Two ponds attract a migratory birds and serve as home to a variety of fish that will test the skills of any angler. Guajome also has two day-use areas with new playgrounds, a basketball court, restrooms and lots of green lawn space make this park ideal for picnicking – along with 33 tent and RV campsites, a caravan pavilion and a rustic cabin for those wishing to extend their stay overnight.
  2. Tour Oceanside Harbor - Oceanside is home to a harbor which contains a lighthouse, several shops and restaurants, the Oceanside Sign, and hundreds of boats and a big long beach with camping. Popular destination for fishing, ocean sailing, aquatic sports and more.

  • The Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum = living-history museum founded in 1969 located on 55 acres of county-owned land on the outskirts of Vista, California. The Museum offers educational and recreational opportunities to the public through exhibits, demonstrations, activities and programs displaying the art of invention fulfilling necessity.
  • Rancho Guajome Adobe = historic 19th-century hacienda in Rancho Guajome Adobe County Park. Built in 1852-53, it is a well-preserved but late example of Spanish-Mexican colonial architecture, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970.

  • Lake Calaveras Nature Reserve - The city’s Lake Calavera Trail Guide notes that the access roads through California Department of Fish and Wildlife land allows only for pedestrian use. No other pedestrian trails are authorized on the reserve property.
