- Leo Carrillo Ranch - The former Rancho de los Quiotes, which was at one point the private residence of Hollywood actor Leo Carrillo, preserves the Spanish and Mexican heritage of the Carlsbad area. Volunteer docents lead tours, guide school groups, or help staff the visitor’s center.

- Miniature Craftsmanship Museum - The Museum is located in eastern Carlsbad, and is dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of small, precision crafted engines and other devices.
- Museum of Making Music - The Museum is located near Legoland, and celebrates the history of the musical instruments industry. Volunteers serve as docents, gift shop clerks, event staff, and with general clerical duties in the office.

Nature & Wildlife[]
- The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch (Open March - Mother's Day) - For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.
- Buena Vista Audubon Nature Center - Located on the shore of Buena Vista Lagoon. The center offers programs that help foster a knowledge and appreciation for the plants and animals that make up the natural ecosystem of our community.
- Lake Calaveras Nature Reserve - The city’s Lake Calavera Trail Guide notes that the access roads through California Department of Fish and Wildlife land allows only for pedestrian use. No other pedestrian trails are authorized on the reserve property.
- Agua Hedionda Lagoon Visitors Center - The Foundation operates a visitors center on the south shore of the lagoon. Volunteers lead tours, help staff the museum, assist with general office work, and help maintain the trails.
- Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center - The Foundation operates a nature center on the north shore of the lagoon. Visitors lead tours and help maintain the trails.

Regional Parks[]
- Lake Guajome Regional Park - Some 4.5 miles of multi-use, non-motorized trails meander through diverse Southern California habitats such as woodlands, chaparral, wetlands and mixed grasslands. Two ponds attract a migratory birds and serve as home to a variety of fish that will test the skills of any angler. Guajome also has two day-use areas with new playgrounds, a basketball court, restrooms and lots of green lawn space make this park ideal for picnicking – along with 33 tent and RV campsites, a caravan pavilion and a rustic cabin for those wishing to extend their stay overnight.
